Frequently Asked Questions
Simply put, Spirit Weft only uses 100% real human hair - Cuticle intact.
100 Proof wefts are our version of the "Genius Weft". With a thin seamline, our extensions have the advantage of being the most concealed and hidden compared to other wefts. Unlike a handtied extension, 100 proof wefts CAN BE CUT AT THE SEAMLINE to customize the extensions to each person's head shape and needs. This gives you the advantage to add wefts in the places you need the least thickness to the most. They can be applied as thin as one weft per row or can be stacked up to 5 ply.
Each weft has been previously colored. We do not recommend coloring or bleaching the weft. However, it is real human hair and will take to color, but it may shorten the life of the extension. Never use powdered lightener or dissolvents. They will open the cuticle and not allow them to absorb moisture. A brittle and broken extension will be the result.
We recommend a sulfate-free shampoo, without parabens and silicones. Be sure to condition with a deep conditioning mask without keratin or hair proteins. Silicones, parabens, keratin, and hair proteins shorten the life of your extensions. They cause build up, brittleness, and breakage.
We highly recommend using pure oils and leave-in conditioners. Such as: Argan oil, Morocan oil, or natural oil blends. These will add moisture, ultimately extending the life of your extensions. Avoid coconut oils. Do not use a silicone-based oil, or a keratin-based leave-in conditioner.
Yes! These extensions can be toned. Becuase these extensions are real human hair; they will gain yellow tones from minerals in water.
When toning, we recommend using a toner with an activator versus a developer. If using a toner that requires a developer, use the lowest developer possible. No higher than 10 volume.
Salt water and Chlorine can be hard on your extensions. In the event that you do submerse your extensions in a pool or ocean, we recommend pre-dampening with tap water, a leave-in conditioner and braiding them off to prevent tangling and absorption.
Should you feel any grittiness after salt or chlorine, you can clarify the extensions with a professional clarifying shampoo. (Consult a licensed professional for shampoo recommendations)
Just like your natural hair, as often or as little as you like! Natural oils that our bodies create is the best moisture to our hair and extensions. Over-washing hair, both natural and extension based, can cause dryness to both your natural hair and the extensions. We recommend washing every other day or every other week, depending on how much oil your scalp creates. For very oily scalps, we suggest 'training' them by washing every other day, using dry shampoo at night before bed and later trying to space our days longer and further.
